About

Hello! I’m Kimberly, a certified postpartum doula and birth story writer.

I live in the Des Moines area with my husband, Sam, and our two boys (Jack and Henry). I have a Bachelors Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Drake University and have 10+ years of experience in writing, editing and marketing. I became passionate about supporting expectant and new families after becoming a mom. I took my postpartum doula training through CAPPA in 2018 and became certified in 2021. You can view my CAPPA profile here. I’m also the treasurer for the Central Iowa Doula Association.

As a postpartum doula, it is my job is to make the transition to parenthood easier by providing physical, emotional and informational support anytime in the first year after a child is born.  My role is to support you and your family in your choices, and to provide education and evidence-based information or resources when necessary.

I’m passionate about helping new parents during this very important transition in their lives. I also believe in the power of helping women to celebrate and process their birth experiences through storytelling.

I am a helper and an advocate by nature, and I am passionate about caring for new moms, new babies and families during the postpartum period. I truly feel this is the work I was meant to do!
